AFI Rentals Offsets Over 1.4 Million kg of CO2 as Sustainability Progress Continues

AFI Rentals has published its latest sustainability update for Q1 2026, reporting further progress in reducing emissions across its nationwide operations.

The update follows the company’s Q4 2025 milestone, when AFI Rentals confirmed it had offset more than 1.3 million kilograms of CO2 through its carbon offsetting scheme. That figure has now increased to over 1.4 million kilograms of CO2, reflecting continued investment in carbon reduction and offsetting initiatives since the scheme launched in 2023.

Alongside carbon offsetting, AFI Rentals continues to make progress in reducing operational emissions across its property estate, transport activity and day-to-day business operations.

Continued reductions in energy use and business travel

The latest report shows that AFI Rentals’ annualised carbon footprint, measured on a location-based basis, is approximately 2% lower than a year ago at March 2025.

The company’s annualised market-based footprint, which takes account of green energy supply and the impact of AFI’s carbon offsetting scheme, has also reduced further.

Several operational improvements contributed to this progress during the reporting period:

 • Electricity use across AFI’s property estate reduced by 27% year-on-year
 • Gas consumption across properties reduced by 27% year-on-year
 • Business mileage reduced by 14% year-on-year, supported by more flexible and efficient ways of working

These improvements form part of AFI Rentals’ longer-term sustainability journey. Overall emissions remain 33% lower than they were seven years ago, demonstrating sustained progress in reducing the company’s environmental impact.

Carbon offsetting scheme continues to grow

Since launching the AFI Carbon Offsetting Scheme in 2023, AFI Rentals has now offset 1,435 tonnes of CO2.

The scheme helps AFI Rentals mitigate emissions linked to equipment transport and operations while supporting certified carbon-reduction projects.

Customers can also contribute to reducing the carbon impact of equipment hire through AFI’s digital ordering and off-hire processes. Through this initiative, AFI offsets 200% of collections and 100% of deliveries, helping customers reduce the environmental impact associated with powered access hire.

Long-term focus on sustainability

AFI Rentals continues to invest in practical initiatives that improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact across the business.

Through lower energy consumption, reduced business mileage, green energy supply and ongoing carbon offsetting, AFI Rentals remains focused on delivering measurable progress towards a more sustainable future.
